Why trees?

Trees have been in the news lately and have been in a lot of conversations locally. In September of 2024 it affected me personally as a topic since 5 large trees fell in my woods during hurricane Helene and one mature oak fell directly on my house. That event and the fact that this year is the 350 year celebration since the Tree Charter became part of the Magna Carta, giving the common people specific rights in royal woods.

That oak that fell on my house stood tall for decades, witnessing seasons, storms, and quiet days alike. On the surface Triangles is a simple and quickly stitched geometric design. The pattern is rife with symbolism – both the triangle as well as the acorn.

In a way the choice of this pattern is  a tribute to the tree that fell, my home that stood, and the beauty of renewal after loss because there were acorns galore and many of them have already sprouted.
