cross-point stitching – Summer Scheme

My Summer color scheme

I’ve been playing with an arrangement of pillows for the Summer in my living room. If you recall, my Winter scheme as shown on the cross-point™ website, picks up colors from my rugs and accessories (see photo below).

For my Summer color scheme I added an off-white slip cover to the big wing chair but other than changing pillows, I left the rugs and accessories alone. Here is my Summer scheme:

summer scheme for cross-point pillows The pillows are from the blue & white, blue & ocean hues, mountain & wood color schemes I wrote about on the cross-point Color Schemes pages. I combined grayed greens, icy blues, aquas and teals, off-whites and creams using my stitched sample pillows to create a summer look that is fresh and cool – like an icy cucumber soup.
I also used some hand-woven inherited linen throws on the loveseat and stool. I plan to stitch a custom stool slipcover in related colors, perhaps repeating icy blues from the Kilim and Tabriz patterns on the sofa. Out of view in the photo is a large container filled with Hydrangea “Little Lamb” chartreuse and white branches from a shrub in my garden. In our current heat wave, I feel refreshed just walking through the living room.

What is your summer color scheme? How do you create a cool and refreshing feeling in your house? I would love to know….

Gorgeous contrast with the winter and summer pillows. Also the slipcover on the wing chair makes me feel cooler already. Beautiful change!
