Design of the Month
JULY 2014
Today is July 4, 2014, and the United States of America is celebrating the official birthday of our nation. Across the country people will come together for picnics and to watch fireworks explode across the sky. How many of us will remember the great sacrifices men and women made to create what we now know as the United States – united by the Declaration of Independence in 1776. Symbolized by the 13-Star Flag, which became the official United States flag on June 14th, 1777, each star and stripe represented one of the 13 original colonies. Throughout the world the flag has come to represent not only the USA but a set of democratic ideals – “a union for, by and of the people”.
While this particular flag only lasted 18 years, my cross-point kit pattern in red, white and blue is a liberal interpretation of the first official flag as reminder of those ideals. Only 8 x 8 inches (20×20 cm), the pattern can easily be stitched by beginning cross-pointers – as well as those experienced – in just one or two evenings. It can be used as a pillow insert, sewn on the back of a jacket or backpack, the front of a small bag or even a canvas shopping bag. Please see the web page for all details including the full front and back pocket-book.
This special offer for the month of July includes the standard kit (and Flag Bag – Front Only) – fabric, wool, needles and charts, the cross-point Technique sheets as well as “Making Up the Pillow” sheet, at the standard price of $12.95, but is pre-glued, and includes FREE SHIPPING via first class mail. The #FLAP-13 Star Pocket Book, regularly priced at $49.95, is available as a Special Offer at $39.95, and FREE SHIPPING. Now is the time to order the kit and get ready for next year’s Fourth of July Celebration.
Please remember that PayPal will charge the full price plus shipping and I issue the credit for shipping and the discount the same day I receive the order from the website. Or you can call your order in by telephone.
HAPPY FOURTH!
