June 14 marks the anniversary of the adoption of the first official United States flag in 1777. As we approach our 250th anniversary in 2026, it seems the perfect time to feature our historic 13-star American Flag pattern. Not a strict historical reproduction, the pattern celebrates and is a reminder of the spirit, optimism, and ideals represented by the original thirteen colonies. Perhaps it is a reminder of the incredible sacrifices made by men during an eight year long war to gain independence and freedom from the ruling crown. The American Revolution by Ken Burns, is a powerful  film available from many sources if you want to delve deeper.

13-Star American Flag – Our Patriotic Cross-Point™ Geometric Needlepoint Kit

Stitched in traditional red, white and blue, the 13-Star American Flag is a quick and satisfying project. It can be completed in a relatively short time. As always, the pattern is worked in our unique cross-point™ technique, combining the beauty of traditional needlepoint with the ease of counted cross stitch.

Whether stitched as a small pillow, pillow insert, patriotic bag or traditional door stop, it brings a touch of American history to your home. The 8″x8″ pattern can be used in so many other applications. You could attach it to the back of a jacket, to the front of a larger shopping bag, or convert the shoulder bag into a belt bag by adding just three loops for your belt to the back. Another option is to finish it as a framed wall hanging, leaving some jute fringe around the pattern.  Consider adding a matching mat in either red or blue to the frame? The door stop is designed to fit a standard brick 7 1/2″ long, by 2 1/2″ high, and 3 3/4″ wide. It can also be applied to a wood block with the same dimensions.
